What I learned in Social Media Class So Far

What I learned in Social Media Class So Far

We are now around the midterm in the semester, and I am almost done with this year. Feels weird to think about. But I came into this class thinking, "Yeah, I know everything there is to social media." And I was extremely wrong. I never knew how businesses could use one dollar to improve their profile visits. Using payment can significantly improve sales and can completely change the company as a whole.

I also learned that platforms know how to keep you attached to their platform. For example, some platforms can predict precisely what you will like or want to see, such as a "for you page" on TikTok. These platforms have algorithms to predict what you are going to like on a daily basis. If you like sports videos on Monday more than Friday, then they are going to show you sport videos on Monday. And this is just only one way these platforms can keep you looped into their platform.

Another thing I learned is that Facebook is the most used platform. I guess I always thought that Instagram was the most used platform. The more I look at Facebook and experiment with it, the more I realize its capabilities. It has a store where you can sell products and a spot where you can basically watch TikTok but in Facebook reels. It also has a place to scroll endlessly and look at your friend's posts. This platform has so many features in it. I think Facebook is trying to make the audience understand that it offers everything other platforms have.

Through the past months, I have learned many new features and tools these platforms offer. I'm excited to learn more about how to grow a personal and business account. What have you guys found the most interesting? Leave your comments below, and I'll see you, everyone, after the break!

  2. I like your blog! I am proud of you because your writing is based on what you learned in the class and your daily lives. I also thought Instagram was the most common media not Facebook. There are a lot of things that we can learn in this class, so I look forward to having the rest of the class!
