Social Media Workshop

Social Media Workshop

This past Friday, I attend the annual Social media workshop. This is a seminar where Ohio Northern has numerous speakers talk to students or anyone who pays for the workshop. The speakers range from all ages and have all types of backstories of their success on social media. I attended this seminar not only for class requirements but also for an interest in starting and growing a business page on social media. It began at nine in the morning and lasted until four in the afternoon. This was a little long for my liking, but I understood because nine speakers talked for an hour. So time eventfully builds up.

We had to do a live tweet for principles of social media during one of the speakers. I decided to live tweet over one of my professors Dr. Phipps. He covered the topic of podcasting and how to become a podcaster, and even how to grow as a podcaster. I learned that you don't need expensive equipment to be successful on the podcast level. Many podcasters started using their phones, then found success and purchased expensive equipment to improve their audience's listening. Dr. Phipps also covered the types of the podcast. He explained that there were more crime podcasts last year than crimes committed.

I enjoyed the workshop and learned many things about succeeding on social media. I also enjoyed hearing from people who have experience in my interest and can express their thoughts. I included a picture below of what Dr. Phipps brought to the seminar. I'm interested to hear what you all thought about the workshop. What was your favorite part of the workshop? What was your least favorite amount of the workshop? I'll also include my Twitter to see my tweets during the live tweet.

  1. This is a good rundown of the day, Chase. I didn't know what to expect at first but as the day went on I found myself enjoying it. Like you, I enjoyed the presentation by Dr. Phipps about podcasting! It was cool to see one of our professors be apart of it.
