Duke Basketball Struggles

Duke Basketball Struggles

Duke Basketball has been my safe haven for about ten years now. It all started with Jabari Parker in twenty thirteen. I followed Parker through high school on the ball in life and found out he was going to Duke University and wanted to continue following him, so I transitioned into a Duke fan. Since then, I have been watching every game and even stopped by Durham (Duke Campus) on our way to vacation. I also took a tour through the Duke basketball complex. And got to walk on the floor and sit in the seats, which turned me into a Duke Super fan, if that is even a thing.

Last year our legendary head coach Mike Krzyzewski retired after countless historical seasons, so this year is the first year with a new head coach since nineteen eighty. With that, our new head coach is a former player and an assistant coach under Coach K. Jon Scheyer is our new coach and has filled the role better than I could've thought. Our record is currently eighteen and eight.

Throughout the season, we have struggled to find motivation at times. We sometimes show up to games and roll over instead of fighting back. It comes with time, though, because we are a younger team with numerous freshmen starting and a new head coach at the helm. I believe Duke basketball is going in the right direction. We will make the NCAA tournament, but I am unsure how many games we will advance. I am also hoping that a couple of freshmen decide to return to Duke for their sophomore year instead of transferring or entering the NBA draft.

  1. Honestly I never watched college ball never was entertaining to me. However, I did know about the legacy of Duke basketball and how important coach K was to the program. I did not realize that it would get this bad after the legendary coach moved on . Sounds like Duke will be on the hunt for a spark for the program soon.
