Building Your Brand
This week we talked about how to build a personal brand. And this really made me interested in my own personal brand. As a content creator, I have to be different than everyone else. That is one of the most important aspects of growing on Instagram. Trying to stand out and be unique is crucial in developing a brand and audience. Once you get an audience's attention, you must try not to let it go.
We talked about how we should have two separate accounts for our personal and business accounts. This really made me think about my personal situation. When I started Coburn Creations, I was in a conflict between either making a whole new Instagram and starting from scratch and growing with that account or using my personal account to post my videos and content, plus my personal life post. When I looked at many other people in this industry, I noticed some had separate accounts, but others had personal and business accounts all tied into one. But I ultimately decided to create a different account and hoped my new account would have a lot of feedback. Looking back on that, I believe I made the right decision.
Another social media platform I am just now getting into is LinkedIn. We talk in class about how this platform is a way to find jobs and to look more professional. This is a professional platform where you can connect with people you know. This platform is made to look more professional rather than other media platforms. I got introduced to LinkedIn 3 months ago and had no idea what it was all about, but now that we have talked and looked through the platform. I will redo my profile to make it more appealing to businesses and future employers.
I have also struggled with figuring out how to build my personal brand. I have gone through periods of my life where I make my Instagram public, and other times where I keep it private. I have tried following a lot of people to gain more followers, and I have also decluttered my social media so I only follow 50 people. Building a personal brand takes lots of time, research, and dedication!
ReplyDeleteYou made a lot of really good points when speaking on your personal brand. You seem to have most of it figured out and I bet this class is really benefiting you and your brand. Using two different accounts for your personal and business is a really good thing to do, as we've talked about and discussed many times now. Good luck on your brand!
ReplyDeleteI agree that differentiation is a crucial point! And I felt nice that what you learned in the class and your personal situation are all connected! I hope you will be a great creator!
