Amateur Podcaster
Man, oh man, was this a doozy. I have a lot more respect for podcasters and broadcasters because I had to about ten takes per clip of a podcast I had to do for the Principals of Social Media class I am in this semester. I will include my notes and topics I made for an outline, but that did not help much. I was monotone when I looked at my outline, so sometimes I decided to just go and send it without knowing what I would say next. This is probably why I had to do about thirty takes altogether. But it was fun to talk and listen to my story when I got done editing it and published it.
I am a very distracted person. Usually, I can only keep my concentration for a short period of time. So, when I recorded this audio, I constantly got distracted and frustrated with myself for getting distracted so quickly. I saw many random things, such as a cat rolling around in the grass. Then I saw one of my friends walking by, then I had cars constantly going in and out of the parking lot. Oh yeah, did I mention that I recorded this in my car? I heard that recording audio in your car is good because it's in a close area.
After looking back on this assignment, it was really interesting because it reminded me of creating a video for a team. The preparation that goes into it and then being able to find the exact pieces you want to use and don't use. It really is like putting a puzzle together. All the pieces create a beautiful image. In this case, the beautiful image is this podcast.
Great post Chase! I have also grown a new respect for podcasters. Being able to speak clearly without messing up is a lot harder than I originally thought. I never thought about recording in my car that's a great idea!
