Blogs are Everywhere

Week 2 Blog: Tuesday of week two is off and rolling. In one of my classes, we talked about building a blog and trying to express yourself or a brand through a blog. This made sense for one of two reasons.

Number one, when making a blog, we discussed how you need to understand your audience. I have heard this a few times in a class I took at ONU. The course was called Memes and Society, and we talked about how we weaponize memes to help spread a more complicated topic. But the first step to that was to understand your audience.

Both courses described knowing your audience in the same way. By knowing your audience, you are more capable of connecting with people who also have the same interest as you.

The next topic we discussed in class this morning was how a blog should look. This is more of a style thing. For example, your blog color and pictures should reflect what your blog is about. Your blog could involve water or fishing poles if you are talking about fishing.

These two keys stuck with me because the more I learn about blogs, the more they are everywhere you look. I never realized how much blogs are used throughout the day. Around I look, I now start to see a blog, sport fan pages have blogs, my mom’s friends have blogs, and my high school basketball team even has a club. I never would’ve realized how much blogs are in our everyday life. Even now, I realize my first year, I had to do a blog like this one, but on word press.

  1. All my friends would make fun of me for taking Memes and Society, but it was actually incredibly in depth. You are 100% right about knowing your audience too. A lot of people fail to have a clear image of who their audience actually is.

  2. I also have noticed that the more I've studied blogs the more that I've noticed that they're everywhere. And that makes sense I suppose since most marketers view blogging as an important demographic to hit!
